People may not be aware of the fact that no one at all has the power to review decisions made by US consulates regarding visa applications. It is possible to appeal decisions of consular officials, but the appeal must be made to the very office that gave the deninal in the first place. Sometimes appeals are successful. At other times they are not.
The actions of most US government entities are subject to review. Many people believe that consular decisions should be subject to some sort of independent review, as well.
I urge those of you who are US citizens to contact your Congressional representatives and urge them to pass a law that would provide for the review of the decisions of consular officials on visa applications. If enough people do this, changes will take place.
I am not suggesting that every visa application deserves to be approved. I am only propopsing that consular officers should not be permitted to behave like dictators and make arbitrary decisions which are not truly open to any meaningful review.
