Please help. I have been in the US since June 00 on J-1 visa (waved from 2 year requirement) for four months working in the summer camp. Then I entered the college and applied for the change of status to F-1 (student) visa. The papers were filed by the school 8 months ago and I still haven’t got the visa (or the denial).
I am in a very ambiguous position, because I love my studies (programming and web design) and I am the top of the class, but I can’t finance it (since I am not allowed to work). My college doesn't have any scholarships for international students and my sponsors can’t afford paying my tuition, so I am desperate.
Please, if anybody can explain why the change of status is taking so long?
Also, maybe you know about any available scholarships?
Are there any opportunities for me working as a professional translator (I have 4 years of experience), programmer or web designer with H-1B processed if I have Associate of Science degree?
Or any other ways of financial support available for students like me?
Thank you in advance...
