Hey! Never ship a laptop through MEEST or any container freight company! Just take it with you a leave in Ukraine. You ARE NOT REQUIRED to declare it! Even if you declare it, you don't have to show the declaration when leaving the country unless you want to take out cash over the limit.
Have you ever seen how they process the shipments, throwing boxes and kicking them? Desktop can survive that, not a portable!

: I am a Ukrainian citizen living in the US. I own a laptop (personal computer) that I do not need any more and would like to leave it at home (in Ukraine) next time I go there so that my parents can write me more often.

: Reading customs web sites, it seems like I need to declare it and have to bring it back to the States. However, in the Ukrainian newspapers, they write about laptop being a personal item, and one can move it freely in or out of Ukraine.
