: : hi,
: : can letters be mailed in and out of the Ukraine without using the Russian Cyrillic alphabet?
: : Thanks in advance for any help offered.
: My initial question was a simple call for help and what I got was a arrogant correction regarding Russian vs Slavic Cyrillic. You guys chose to ignore that persons arrogance and pounce on me for my frustration at that kind of answer. Perhaps I was rude but was JM"s answer appropriate? I don't mind being corrected because I certainly am ignorant on the matter but I am trying to learn, but JM still could have given me the help I requested. Oh, and the professor is cut from the same cloth as JM.

John --
I'm sorry so many people came down on you. It's just that there are certain buttons that cause reactions when pushed. For Ukrainians, one of these buttons is confusing Ukrainian and Russian -- in anything.
Some Ukrainians don't care. However, there are many who are smarting from the many years of Russian domination and from the results of that domination (such as the Russification of huge parts of Ukraine) and who do care -- deeply.
I understand why Lesia (the first one) made you angry. Your response, though, did not seem to me to be much better than Lesia's.
It's good that you're trying to learn about another culture. More power to you!
