:You asked for potential problems when haveing a relative visit the U.S. I have just come through this experience with my second cousin whom I invited over. I also made a trip to Ukrain to go to the embassy with him. My advise to anyone who is American and does not speak Ukrainian well is DO NOT DO IT!!!! After 5 months of his 6 month visitors visa, it becomes clear he was not going to return to his family in U. He is now an illegal living in NYC and cant understand why I or the family can not help him. At the beginning of this whole mess I had no idea that he would become an illegal. I have also come to the conclusion that the American mind and the Ukrainian mind cannot understand each other. There is just to much of a cultural difference. A good book to read which I got at Barnes and Noble is- Culture Shock:Ukraine
