Honoring the Victims of the Famine
Ambassador of Ukraine Anton Buteyko to speak at the Memorial Services
Нью-Йорк. -- Державний Сенатор Чарлз Шумер, який представляє штат Нью-Йорк з рамени Демократичної партії, виголосить святкове слово під час Соборної Панахиди в пам"ять жертв Голодомору в Україні, яка відбудеться в Катедрі св. Патрикія, в суботу, 20 листопада ц.р.
Громадський Комітет для вшанування пам"яті жертв Голодомору в Україні раніше повідомив, що Посол України в США Антон Бутейко також виступить під час відправ.
Панахида у римокатолицькому храмі, що знаходиться на 51-ій вулиці та 5-ій авені, розпочнеться о год. 1-ій по полудні. Соборну Панахиду відправлятимуть Український Православний Архиєпископ Антоній і Український Католицький Єпископ Василь Лостен у сослужені священиків обох віровизнань. У Панахиді також візьме участь український хор "Думка" з Нью Йорку під диригентурою Василя Гречинського.
Громадський Комітет, який діє під патронатом Українського Конгресового Комітету Америки і Українсько-Американської Координаційної Ради, запланував двочастинне жалібне відзначення 66-ої річниці московського геноциду проти українського народу на суботу, 20 листопада ц.р.
Відзначення почнеться Жалібним Походом вулицями Нью Йорку. Комітет передбачає збірку учасників Жалібного Походу в суботу, 20 листопада, о год. 10-ій ранку в Мангатені, перед Церквою св. Юра, що знаходиться на 7-ій вулиці, між 2-ою і 3-ою авенями, і біля Церкви Всіх Святих, що знаходиться на 11-ій вулиці, між 2-ою і 3-ою авенями. Похід вирушатиме до Катедри св. Патрикія точно о год. 11-ій ранку. Учасники ітимуть вздовж Третьої Авеню до 51-ої вулиці, де колони громадян повернуть на захід.
"Комітет запрошує до участи в поході і відправі всіх українців з Нью-Йорку і околиці. Просимо принести із собою українські національні прапори, церковні хорогви та відповідні афіші". -- наголосив Володимир Курило, голова Громадського Комітету.
NEW YORK -- Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Anton Buteyko and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) will speak after the Moleben and Requiem in memory of the victims of the Great Famine in Ukraine, according to the event's organizers.
The services will begin at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Fifth Avenue and 51st Street, here, Saturday, November 20, at 1 p.m.. The concelebrants will be Archbishop Antony of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Bishop Basil Losten of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. New York's "Dumka" chorus, directed by Vasyl Hrechynsky, will sing the responses.
The Civic Committtee to Remember the Victims of theFamine in Ukraine, the organizing and coordinating body formed under the aegis of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and Ukrainian American Coordinating Coouncil, will open the day's events with a Solemn Procession, the first through the streets of New York City in many years, to pay tribute to the 7 million victims of this Kremlin-made crime in Ukraine.
The staging point for the Solmen Procession will be Saturday, November 20, at 10 a.m. at the St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church, on East Seventh Street, between Second and Third Avenues, and the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, on East 11th Street, between Second and Third Avenues.
The procession will get under way north along Third Avenue at 11 a.m.
The Solemn Procession will also be the community's last chance this century to remind the world of the Famine in Ukraine, remarked Volodymyr Kurylo, chairman of the Civic Committee.
"Many outlying Ukrainian communities have reported that they've organized busloads of participants. We expect marchers from Hartford, Binghampton, Passaic, Whippany and other cities. We also urge participants to bring national flags, trimmed with black bunting, church banners and appropriate placards," said Mr. Kurylo.
