Patriarch FILARET to visit United States
Patriarch arrives in Chicago this weekend

This morning St. Anthony of the Kyiv Caves Orthodox Monastery received word from Bishop ALEXANDER, our bishop. Vladyka had talked with Patriarch FILARET this morning by telephone. His Holiness, FILARET, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus'-Ukraine will arrive in the United States on Saturday, October 23, 1999, in Chicago. The following day, Patriarch FILARET will serve at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 6655 West Higgins Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. On Saturday October 30, the Patriarch will be in Detroit. He will then travel to Rochester, New York, on October 31. On November 6, Patriarch FILARET will be in Brunswick, Ohio. Then on November, he will be in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The patriarch returns to the Ukraine on November 9.

Vladyka ALEXANDER said that he was extremely please that Patriarch FILARET was visiting again. This is Patriarch FILARET's second visit to the Ukrainian Orthodox parish in America. Last year during October and November he also visited. Vladyka ALEXANDER encourages all the faithful and clergy to attend as many of the services and gatherings with the Patriarch as possible.

Patriarch FILARET is the head of the worldwide Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyiv Patriarchate with more than 35 million members.

Bishop ALEXANDER leads the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, which is part of the Kyiv Patriarchate and has been part of the Kyiv Patriarchate since 1994. Vladyka ALEXANDER has parishes throughout the United States and in Canada.
