The Hollywood Ukrainians
4315 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA |
We've all heard of Paramount Studios with the gateway filmed in that famous scene in the movie "Sunset Boulevard." But did you know that right there on Melrose Avenue, just down the street from the Paramount Studio entrance, the well known Hollywood sign in the mountains as a backdrop, you will also find the Ukrainian Cultural Center of Los Angeles?
The Ukrainian Cultural Center is more than 30 years old now, and is experiencing a rebirth due to the active involvement of the new emigrants from Ukraine as well as young American-Ukrainians. The Center holds the typical Ukrainian community functions that one might expect, and also hosts the "Ukrainian Art Gallery" which is included in LA tour guides on the arts circuit.
We’re pleased to announce that the Center has debuted on the Internet with its own website. The purpose of the site is to inform people both living in LA and visitors to this town about events happening in the Ukrainian community of Greater Los Angeles, and to establish presence on the web in order for people to be able to contact the Center with their comments and suggestions.
