International Conference "GIS TECHNOLOGIES TODAY"

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure for us to invite You to the International Conference "GIS TECHNOLOGIES TODAY" which will be held in L'viv, Ukraine, on 7 - 9 of June 1999

Main topics of the Conference:

• History of the development and the modern state of geo-information technologies.
• Law regulations and methodologies for the use of GIS technologies.
• Theoretical background of GIS (cartography, geodesy and topography, remote sensing methods).
• Hardware and software for GIS, main tendencies of international developments.
• Data processing and visualization.
• Creation of data-sets for geo-information systems, integrated data analysis.
• Spatial analysis and modeling in GIS.
• GIS-applications:

1. GIS in regional management and planning. Municipal GIS.
2. Modern GIS and cadaster systems.
3. GIS and monitoring systems.
4. GIS and INTERNET.
5. GIS applications in Telecommunication.

• Geoinformatics in the system of general education.
• Advanced approaches in geoinformatics. Main tendencies of GIS developments.

Structure of the conference:

• Plenary and section sessions,
• Poster presentations and discussions,
• Exhibition of GIS-oriented hardware, software and projects,
• Contest-exhibition of the CD-ROMs under the title "Our Town is the best!".

The most merited Lecture and the Best Practical Application will receive Special Awards!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Application forms and papers should be sent to the Organizing Committee by the 1st of May 1999.
Materials of the Conference and its Program will be given to the participants upon registration.

Conference fees are:

• 100 Hrn for Ukrainian citizens
• 100 $ US for participants from abroad
• 200 $ US for exhibition
• For students, post-graduate students and groups of participants Conference fees could be reduced.

REQUIREMENTS for SUBMISSION of PAPERS

Papers will be published in a special edition of the journal "Information Technologies and Systems". Text files should be sent to the e-mail address gis@city-adm.lviv.ua ; printout of the paper is also desirable. Papers can be written in Ukrainian, Russian or English. A summary in English, not exceeding 250 words, is required. Computer versions of the paper should be done using Microsoft Word 7.0 and Equation Editor 2.0. Main font for papers - Times New Roman (for English papers), or Times New Roman Cyr, size - 11 pt.

Papers must be formatted in the following way:

• Paper title - capital letters, bold.
• Name of author (s).
• Firm, City, Country - italic.
• Texts should be justified, line spacing - 1.5, all fields - 2 cm, pages without numbering.
• Figures, tables and their explanations should be placed in the text according to the contents and inserted into the document, as objects.
