'Svoboda' demands correction on Ukrainian Internet news site
On May 5, the internet newspaper "Ukraiinska Pravda" published a Ukrainian-language article by Valentyn Labunski titled "Moia pravda pro Mykolu Melnechenka" (My truth about Mykola Melnychenko) that was preceded by a editorial note identifying the author as a "correspondent of the Ukrainian-language New York newspaper 'Svoboda' ". The information provided in the editorial note is false - Valentyn Labunski is not a correspondent of the newspaper "Svoboda" in New York; "Svoboda" never approved the publication of this type of article; no one from the staff of "Ukraiinska Pravda" contacted our editorial offices to confirm if Valentyn Labunski is a correspondent of "Svoboda".
[Irene Jarosewich, Editor-in-chief of Svoboda, has requested] that this letter be published as a correction [on the "Ukraiinska Pravda" website] and that the incorrect information be removed from the editorial note.

[Інтернет видання] «Українська Правда» 5 вравна вмістила статтю Валентина
Лабунського «Моя правда про Миколу Мельниченка»,
попередивши її редакційним вступом, в якому представлає
цього автора як «кореспондента україномовної нюйоркської
газети «Свобода». Це не відповідає дійсності - Валентин
Лабунський не є кореспондентом газеги «Свобода» в Ню-Йорку;
редакція «Свободи» не надавала повноважень вміщувати таку
статтю від газети; до нас ніхто з «Української правди» не
звертався, щоб перевірити, чи Валентин Лабунський є
кореспондентом «Свободи».
Тому головний редактор газети «Свободи», Ірена Яросевич,
просила їх лист подати як спростyвання неправдивої
інформації.
