To: Leonid Kuchma, President of Ukraine

President Kuchma,

I am an American citizen and I am very concerned about the elections in Ukraine. It is imperative that elections in Ukraine not be tainted by corrupt and falsely manipulated election results. Ukraine has had so many martyrs in its past and gained independence in the most fortunate of circumstances. Ukraine deserves scrupulous and honest elections and nothing less.

All these courageous people demonstrating on the streets of Ukraine should have their voices heard. Standing in the frigid temperatures their hearts are on fire for their beloved country. Do not discount their pleas for history will judge you very badly, indeed, if you disregard these remarkable people!

Democracy is very precious and Ukraine is worthy and should have a chance to shine in its glow.

I implore you to give Democracy a chance in Ukraine and hold another election, properly supervised, and without threats to the people should be held. I pray that you will act expeditiously and with honor.

Sincerely,
Julia Sydorowych
