Argentine Ukrainians Protest Fraudulent Elections

Buenos Aires — On November 29th, 2004, a large group of Ukrainian citizens residing in Argentina, met opposite to the Embassy of Ukraine in Buenos Aires to demonstrate peacefully against the electoral fraud in the second round of the last presidential elections in Ukraine, and to give support to the opposition candidate, Viktor Yushchenko.

Following presentations by several speakers and a rendition of the National Ukranian Anthem sung by the crowd, the demonstrators managed to bring out the Ambassador of Ukraine to Argentina, Mr Oleksandr Nykonenko. Representatives made their demands known and delivered a petition to the Ambassador.

The demonstrators are calling for another rally to take place next Saturday, December 4th at 6 p.m., opposite the Taras Shevchenko monument in Buenos Aires in “3 de Febrero” Park, at Av. del Liberator and Sarmiento.
