The theme of the book A Surgeon's Universe encompasses the Universe and geography of the Earth, history and politics, culture, science and technology, a history of Ukrainian medicine and health welfare, general surgery, anesthesiology, especially thoracic, cardiac and vascular surgery, and relationships between physicians. It is available in paperback and has 528 pages written in Ukrainian, with some chapters in English, Russian and Polish, that includes 357 figures and six tables.
The book describes events of almost a whole lifetime in the 20th Century, of one who had the opportunity to see with his own eyes the northern hemisphere of the Earth from Ukraine, and from westernmost Alaska in the United States of America to the Far East of Russia.
The chapters "Basic medical science in Ukraine " and "Clinical medicine in Ukraine " contain brief data about scientists in the medical field and physicians born in Ukraine, Ukrainians by nationality, or connected to Ukraine, who made a significant contribution to the development of medical science.
Included in the text are numerous clinical observations, beginning from the "Traumatic injury of the middle finger of the right hand", and ending in "Mimicking the subclavian steal syndrome ", which present a wide spectrum of clinical surgical experience that may be useful for medical students, as well as for any physician, especially for thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons.
The book also includes the author's own contribution to general surgery, anesthesiology, cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery, as well as his publications.
