Diasporan Ukrainians gather at St. Volodymyr's in Paris
by Max Pyziur
Throughout the world - whether it is in Buenos Aires, Sacramento,
or Paris - as if by instinct Diasporan Ukrainians, God-fearing
and otherwise, gather most Sundays at Ukrainian churches. Along
with some attending services, there they communicate, get (re)-acquainted,
exchange ideas about livelihoods, coordinate remittances with family back
home and watch their
children play.
On a warm Sunday this past fall Brama's intrepid photographers visited
St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Paris. The church is
situated
at the corner of the Boulevard Saint Germain and Rue des Saints Pere in
Paris's
prominent Left Bank.
Here's what they saw:
View from Boulevard Saint Germain as the crowd
stretches eastward along the sidewalk; the parked red van transports
remittances between Paris and Ukraine.

Shevchenko overlooking the crowd as it spills from the
church's adjacent Taras Shevchenko (Chevchenko) park into the Boulevard
Saint Germain

A chance re-acquaintence with Mrs. Alexandra Kysilewska-Tkacz (married to Dr. Kosyk), now living in Paris,
formerly of New Jersey, mother of Yara Arts theater director Virlana Tkacz.

Definitely elbow-to-elbow.
