"Holodomor - The Great Man-Made Famine in Ukraine 1932-33"
New York - A new exhibition titled "Holodomor - The Great Man-Made Famine in Ukraine 1932-33" opens tomorrow at the United Nations' New York City headquarters (the unveiling takes place this evening, by invitation only). The exhibit was organized by The Ukrainian Museum in New York City on behalf of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations.

Features of the exhibit include a historical perspective beginning in 1917 of events that led up to the forced Famine, many photo reprints and illustrations, copies of newspaper clippings, books, and printouts of resolutions adopted by various parliaments in support of the Ukraine Famine. A black and white fold-out brochure will be on hand for visitors.
Maria Shust, Director of The Ukrainian Museum, caerfully chose objects for the exhibit that present a broad and balanced picture of the Great Famine. She reminds that the thrust of the plan to destroy Ukrainians was not limited to the peasants and rural areas for their resistance to collectivization - the Famine was also used to crush all intellectual and cultural life that had flourished under the short-lived Ukrainization policy.
