For the Next Generation…
Youth Leadership Program 2003
Washington, DC - August 2 - 8, 2003
The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation
is seeking a select group of young men and women who consider themselves "leaders for tomorrow" and who are interested in U.S.-Ukraine relations within the context of the overall U.S. community or the Ukrainian-American community.
Youth Leadership Program 2003
will
give U.S. students a "Washington experience" to the public policy process - appreciating the components of the process, discussion with "players," developing important leadership skills and understanding how to take a more active role.
Students will develop an increased awareness of Ukraine in the global perspective and will learn the importance of the Ukrainian-American community in U.S.-Ukraine relations. By meeting professionals in government and non-profit sectors, students will better understand the various Washington career choices available to them.
Activities
The Foundation will organize a full schedule of meetings with government and non-government officials in Washington, DC. Within the context of U.S.-Ukraine affairs, students will understand the role and impact of these individuals, their organizations and their constituencies. Participants will also learn leadership skills at seminars conducted by educators and motivational speakers.
Participants will have the chance to see many of the capital's beautiful landmarks and sights. During non-program time, students will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the favorite evening activities in DC.
Program Costs
Program costs (for program activities and transport) and lodging are free. Some group meals will also be without cost. Students are responsible for their transport to and from Washington, meals, personal spending money and non-program activities.
Program Size
It is anticipated that 10-16 students will be selected for this program.
