Enlisting the aid of children from the audience, Justine Pasek, Miss Universe 2002,
picked winners for a raffle sponsored by The Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center in Philadelpia.
The event was part of the Aids in Ukraine Awareness Weekend organized by the UECC and the Ukrainian American
Medical Association (www.umana.org).

On the wall hangs the "Rushnyk Nadiji" or Ritual Cloth of Hope, which was a
project conceived by the UECC as a symbol of the fights against HIV/AIDS
in Ukraine. 120 embroidered squares were received by the UECC, of which
100 were used in the "rushnyk". The balance of the donated squares will be
used in pillows or other forms as part of the permanent exhibit at the
Ukrainian Center in Philadelphia. The "Rushnyk Nadiji" is available for exhibitions in other cities, and was
already requested by Archbishop Antony for the annual service which was held in Bound
Brook, NJ on May 4.
Below the "rushnyk" hang photographs of Ukrainian orphans. The exhibit is titled "Starving for color" by Dr. Roksolana Tymiak-Lonchyna.
It will be on display at the Philadelphia Center through May 17.
