Businessman seeks community support for Order's vocational work
Mr. Steve Ircha is authorized to conduct fund-raising activities for the Order of Saint Basil the Great. This fund?raising is for the support of vocations to the monastic life, which includes the monastic priesthood. The Order of St. Basil is seeking additional donations since the expenses involved with the education of seminarians and the upkeep of the educational facilities has depleted the Order's resources. The American Province of the Order of St. Basil the Great ministers to the Ukrainian Catholic faithful in the, United States conducting parishes in New York State, Michigan and Illinois: St. George Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Manhattan which includes an elementary and high school; Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Hamtramck, Michigan and St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Parish which conduct Immaculate Conception Elementary and High Schools: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palos Park, Illinois; Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Long Island City, NY; St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, Bronx,, NY; St. Josaphat Monastery and Novitiate, Glen Cove, NY, In addition to the student seminarians in Glen Cove, NY the American Province of the order of St, Basil the Great has seminarians studying in schools in Orchard Lake, MI; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Rome, Italy: Curitiba, Brazil and Przemysl, Poland.
Besides the parish ministry and conducting schools, the Order of St, Basil conducts parish missions (spiritual renewals) in the Ukrainian Catholic Parishes throughout the United States, The Order also runs a retreat center in Glen Cove, NY, where couples contemplating marriage are given a week?end of instructions by competent married couples and clergy.
The number of student seminarians being educated for the American Province of the Order is 10. To cover the expenses involved in training the seminarians the financial goal is: $3,000,000.00 (three million dollars). Donations to the Order for this purpose are tax deductible,
Steve Ircha and his sister, Suzanne, have already successfully raised several thousand dollars in the past to help cover the expenses involved in training the Order's seminarians. Those funds have been depleted and the Order needs to continue raising educational funds to continue its mission.
