BRAMA, May 28, 2002, 1 pm ET
Cooper Union Plans to:
1. Upzone the area to a commercial high density zoning more appropriate for a midtown business district.
2. Demolish the Abram S. Hewitt Memorial (located on 3rd Avenue between 6th and 7th Street), and replace it with an 135 ‘ academic building equivalent to a 15-story residential building.
3. Demolish the Engineering Building (located between 3rd and 4th Avenues between 8th and 9th Streets), and replace it with a 255’ commercial building equivalent to a 24-story residential building.
