Ukrainian Chorus 'Dumka' sings to oldest Protestant congregation in New York A spiritual evening of "Koliady", or Christmas Carols for the East Village in New York City was staged last Friday (February 1) at Middle Collegiate Church. Built in 1891 on Second Avenue and 7th Street, Middle is located at the center of the city's Ukrainian enclave. The administrators of this neighborhood house of worship maintain an active outreach policy, and as part of their arts program, invited the Dumka Choir to sing selections from its portfolio of traditional Ukrainian carols. The Victorian Church's decorative sanctuary provides excellent acoustics as well as visual treats including stenciled walls and colorful stained-glass windows. See the links below for further information about the Middle Church.
