Ukrainian Studies at Rutgers (Newark): Spring 2002

In the context of the newly reorganized CENTRAL AND EAST EUROPEAN STUDIES PROGRAM, and with the support of Ukrainian credit unions in the area, the Department of Classical and Modern Languages at Rutgers, Newark is offering in the Spring semester 2002:

INTRODUCTION TO UKRAINIAN LITERATURE (21:957:205), meeting once a week on Tuesdays (2:30-3:40 PM) in Room 448, Conklin Hall, (Rutgers University, 175 University Avenue, Newark, N.J. 07102). The Spring semester begins January 22, 2002. Fifteen students have already registered for the course.

The course will be taught by the poet and literary scholar, Maria G. Rewakowicz. Prof. Rewakowicz holds a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Toronto where she taught Ukrainian language courses. She is the author of numerous articles and translations, as well as of four books of poetry, the most recent of which is "A Green Roof," published in Kiev in 1999. The language of readings and lectures will be primarily in English.

The course fulfills the College requirements in Literature and may be counted toward a Major or Minor in Central and East European Studies. STUDENTS FROM OTHER COLLEGES and community members are welcome.
