ccTLD .UA launches second level domain names registration
Kyiv, Ukraine - As of October 28th, 2001 Ukrainian Internet users have an ability to register second level domain names in ccTLD zone .UA because new edition of ccTLD .UA Rules was accepted by Internet community.
Till this time it was impossible for users to use second level domain names and all the domanin names were registered in several generic (.com.ua, .net.ua, etc.) and geographical (kiev.ua, odessa.ua) domain zones.
The second level domain named can be delegated only to those people or businesses, which have their trademarks registered and can prove that with appropriate documents.
Internet community of Ukraine was forced to this step to prevent cyber squatting and future resale of domain names to its owners.
Lubomir Haidamaka, CEO of iName.com.ua (http://iName.com.ua/ - one of the official Ukrainian registrar) was quoted as saying: "This process will allow trademark owners to protect their intellectual property and will unload current administrators of ccTLD .UA".
