Ukrainian American Community Reacts to Terrorist Attacks New York, NY (UCCA) – The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) has issued a statement (see attached statement) condemning the September 11, 2001 massive terrorist attacks on the United States. The statement denounces the heinous acts and "deplores the cowardly acts of violence, the faceless nature of terrorist activities, and the inhumanity and complete disregard for human life." Furthermore, while denouncing the terrorist onslaught, the UCCA statement also commended the heroic efforts of the emergency personnel and volunteers who risked and sacrificed their lives to save the lives of their fellow citizens. Such dedication is "the greatest gift of human self-worth, respect, and kindness." The UCCA also sent letters of support and gratitude to President George Bush, Governor George Pataki, and Mayor Rudolph Guiliani commending them for their strong leadership in the wake of the tragedies. The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) would like to thank the countless members of the Ukrainian American community who are actively engaged in volunteer and support efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by the massive terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. We laud them for their commitment and compassion and encourage our Ukrainian American community at large to join their efforts and assist the victims’ families whose lives were tragically affected by the events of that fateful day. To that end, the UCCA has created the UCCA-WTC Relief Fund as a means for the Ukrainian American community to coordinate its contributions to the ongoing relief effort. The UCCA is underwriting all administrative costs of the Fund and all monies donated go directly to members of the Ukrainian American community who have been directly affected by this tragedy and to the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross is providing immediate care and blood to the victims in the attacks in all three locations – New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Українська громада реагує на терористичні атаки Нью Йорк (УККА) - Український Конґресовий Комітет Америки (УККА) видав заяву (див. долучення), що засуджує масові терористичні атаки на Сполучені Штати 11-го вересня 2001 року. Заява засуджує жахливі дії та «цей злочин вчинений нам, американцям, безликість терористичних акцій, нелюдскість та повну зневагу життя невинних людей.» Також, висловлюючи огиду щодо терористичного нападу, заява УККА відзначила героїчні зусилля персоналу швидкої допомоги та добровільців, які ризикували та жертвували власним життям аби врятувати життя інших. Таку присвяту УККА називає «вищим ступенем людського достоїнства, поваги, та доброти.» УККА також надіслав листи підтримки й подяки Президентові Джорджеві Бушу, Губернаторові Джорджеві Патакі, та Посадникові Рудольфові Джуліані за бездоганне керівництво під час трагедії. УККА дякує численним членам українсько-американської громади, які приймають активну участь у добровільних роботах та допомагають полегшити наслідки терористичних атак на Сполучені Штати 11-го вересня 2001 року. Хвалимо їх за присвяту та милосердя та заохочуємо загал українсько-американської громади об'єднати зусилля та прийняти участь у таких роботах та допомогти сім'ям жертв, чиє життя відбрали події того трагічного дня. Для тогоч УККА створив фонд UCCA-WTC Relief Fund як засіб для українсько-американської громади зкоординувати свої пожертви на користь робот по подоланню наслідків трагедії. УККА прийме на себе усі адміністративні кошти а гроші, що поступлять на конто фонду підуть безпосередньо до членів українсько-американської громади, які постраждали від цієї трагедії та до Американського Червоного Хреста. Американський Червоний Хрест подає критичну допомогу та переливання крові жертвам атак в усіх трьох місцях - Нью Йорку, Вашінґтонy та Пенсильванії.
