68th Observance of Ukrainian Famine-Genocide New York, NY (UCCA) - The now-traditional annual commemorative observance of the Ukrainian Famine – Genocide will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. Sponsored by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), the observance begins at 2pm and will consist of an ecumenical memorial service (panakhyda) co-celebrated by the hierarchy of the Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The "Dumka" choir (invited) will sing responses to the memorial service. Following the religious service, representatives from the American and Ukrainian governments will be afforded an opportunity to offer their remarks. Invited guest speakers include Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and H.E. Kostyantyn Hryshchenko, ambassador of Ukraine to the United States. The UCCA has appealed to President Bush to offer a statement regarding the 68th anniversary that would be read at the commemoration. Likewise, the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have been requested to issue official proclamations from their governors commemorating the day. The entire Ukrainian American community of the greater New York metropolitan area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) is invited to participate in this ecumenical observance of the 68th anniversary of the Ukrainian Famine – Genocide. |
Вшанування 68-ої Річниці Українського Голодомору-Ґеноциду Проведеться у Катедрі Св. Патрика Нью Йорк, НЙ (УККА) - Вшанування жертв українського голодомору-ґеноциду, яке вже стало традицією, пройде у суботу, 17-го листопада 2001 року у Катедрі Св. Патрика в Нью Йорку. Спонсороване Українським Конґресовим Комітетом Америки (УККА), відзначення відбудеться о 2-ій годині по обіді та складатиметься з об'єднаної жалібною панахиди за участю ієрархів Української Католицької та Православної церков. Хорову частину пнахиди співатиме хор «Думка» (запрошено). Після релігійної відправи представникам українського та американського урядів буде надано можливість виступити із промовами. На меморіальну службу запрошені Сен. Гіларі Клінтон (Демократ - НЙ) та достойний Костянтин Грищенко, надзвичайний та повноважний посол України в Америці. УККА звернувся до Президента Буша з проханням опублікувати офіційну заяву щодо 68-ої річниці голодомору, щоби зачитати її на жалібній програмі. Таке прохання підготувати офіційні заяви до дня відзначення було направлено також до ґубернаторів стейтів Нью Йорку, Нью Джерсі, та Конектікуту. Усю громаду метрополії міста Нью Йорку (Нью Йорк, Нью Джерсі та Конектікут) запрошуємо пиймати участь у цьому об'єднаному відзнченні 68-ої річниці українського голодомору-ґеноциду. |
