September 14, 2001 - Ukrainian Oleksandr Zalizniak and his Armenian friend ?.Sarkesian
constructed a symbolic memorial in commemoration of the attack on America and
as a prayer for those whose lives have been affected. The tall candle,
made from some type of cement or spackle compound, has become a focal point
in Manhattan's Union Square, as New Yorkers look for ways to express
their grief, their outrage, their prayers for the future.
