Screening of Newest UCCA Film "The Undefeated" to Premiere in Washington, DC

Washington D.C. (UNIS) – On Tuesday, September 18, 2001, the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) will offer a première screening of the new film, "The Undefeated," directed by producer Oles Yanchuk. The film brings to life the epic story of the famed Ukrainian national hero and general of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) Roman Shukhevych. This film was created through the joint efforts of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), Ministry of Culture and Arts in Ukraine, National Film Studio of O. Dovzhenko, and Oles Film Productions. Set against the backdrop of an underground war for liberation of the Ukrainian people, Yanchuk explores the complex character of Gen. Shukhevych, his love of music, and his genius in combat. This film is a personal story of faith and commitment and ultimately, the victory of freedom over tyranny. The screening will take place at 7 p.m. at Loew’s Cineplex at Dupont Circle, 1350 19^th Street NW. Admission cost: $10.

"The Undefeated" was recently shown at the World Film Festival in Montreal, Canada on Labor Day weekend. The film will soon be available for purchase on videocassettes. A copy of the 105-minute feature film in Ukrainian with English subtitles costs $35. Вашінґтон (УНІС) - У вівторок, 18-го вересня 2001 року, Український Конґресовий Комітет Америки (УККА) пропонує переглянути новий фільм режисера Олеся Янчука «Нескорений,» епічну історію українського національного героя, генерала Української Повстанської Армії (УПА) Романа Шухевича. Фільм створено у співробітництві УККА, Міністерства Культури та Мистецтва України, Національної студії художніх фільмів ім. О. Довженка, та стидії Олесь Фільм. На тлі підпільної війни Янчук досліджує складний характер Шухевича, його переміни у дитинстві, етнічну дискримінцію, його любов до музики та військовий талант. Цей фільм є історією власної віри, присвячености справі та кінцевої перемоги волі над тиранією.
