Celebration of Spring in New York:
Sacred Spring / Oy Vesna, ta y Vesnianochka
Spring is Come! Let's Sing!
(Art Exhibit, Pre-Concert Discussion and Performance of Ukrainian Spring Rituals)

Friday, April 6, 2001

Mayana Gallery invites the public to "Sacred Spring," an exhibit featuring original artwork and reproductions which reflect themes from the Ukrainian rite of spring. The Ukrainian Art & Literary Club opens the exhibit with a pre-concert discussion of the upcoming "Oy Vesna, ta y Vesnianochka" (Spring is Come! Let's Sing!) celebration which is scheduled for April 8. Artistic director Alla Kutzevych and Jaroslawa Gerulak will provide explanations of the songs and rituals to be included in the performance.

Donation: $7
Time: 7 pm
Gallery hours: Fri 6-8; Sat-Sun 1-5

The UNWLA Branch 125 and the "Promin" Vocal Ensemble invite the public to a celebration of the Spring and Easter season with a program titled "Oy Vesna, ta y Vesnianochka" (Spring is Come--Let's Sing!) Directed by bandurist Alla Kutzevych, the program will feature traditional spring rituals, which include hayivky (ritual rounds), vesnianky (spring songs), and calling songs.

Time: 2:30 p.m.
Adults: $10 Children: free admission
