Pittsburgh, PA - Four Ukrainian nationals arrested last Wednesday Feb. 7 by immigration authorities are being held in Cambria County Prison, Ebensburg, PA. The men were taken in handcuffs from their shared apartment after police examined their documents and found that the visas had all expired.
According to an acquaintance of one of the prisoners, the four Ukrainians, along with 3 others who have since been released, have been moved in and out of various jail cells, some private, some shared for the last week, but were still unaware of the exact charges against them. Without an interpreter and not having legal counsel, the Ukrainians have been at a loss as to how to proceed and how to rectify their situation.
Bonds have been established for each of the men: for Mykhailo Chuchuk, from Ivano-Frankivsk, $20,000, and the others range from $10,000 to $15,000.
