United Nations, New York (5 June 2000) - Suzanna Stanik, Minister of Justice of Ukraine, addresses the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly meeting on the theme, "Women 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the Twenty-first Century". The session brings together some 10,000 delegates from governments and non-governmental organizations to review progress made on gender issues since the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women. It is therefore also known as "Beiiing +5", after the site of the 1995 Conference.
