The Ukrainian Chorus "Dumka" of New York Jubilee Concert
50th anniverary concert of "Dumka", the only mixed voice Ukrainian chorus in the U.S. to receive the Mykola Lysenko prize from the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Composers Union and All-Ukrainian Music Association of Ukraine for actively promoting Ukrainian music in Europe, Ukraine, America and Canada.
The 60-odd member chorus, conducted by Vasyl Hrechynsky , accompanied on the piano by Eugenia Paley and featuring guest soloist Volodimir Hryshko of the Kiev Opera and the New York City and Metropolitan Opera will perform Ukrainian choral music ranging from spiritual, to folk and opera. Additional solo performances on piano by Eugenia Paley.
Join us in celebrating some of our rich musical heritage on Sunday, April 9th, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Great Hall of Cooper Union, located on 3rd Ave. and 7th St., admission: $20.
