The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to building peace and prosperity through shared democratic values for both nations, has a special relationship with Krasnodon since a community partnership was established between Krasnodon and Birmingham, Alabama in 1998 through the Foundation's Community Partnerships Project, a program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation is collecting new or used (in good good and usable condition) toys for the children of Krasnodon with the cooperation of the Taras Shevchenko School for Ukrainian Studies, and local Ukrainian Churches. All usable toys can be placed in the containers provided at all four sites.
Dates for collections have been extended:

Please make sure that toys are in good condition and require no translation skills. Toys that will survive transport, such as stuffed animals, are preferable to fragile ones, with many small plastic parts. The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation will make every effort to deliver and distribute toys directly and in person to family members of miners who perished and those who were injured through contacts established at the Community Partnership Project's Regional Training Center in Donetsk and the Birmingham-Krasnodon Partnership.
In lieu of a toy, you may make a financial gift to assist families affected by the Krasnodon mining disaster through the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, 733 15th Street, NW, Suite 1026, Washington, DC 20005. Make checks payable to U.S.-Ukraine Foundation/Mining Disaster.
Once again, your help is greatly appreciated!
