UESA Launches Web Site
NEW YORK - It has sponsored visits by Ukrainian astronauts and discussions on the Ukrainian space program. Now, the Ukrainian Engineers Society of America (UESA) -- Tovarystvo Ukrajins'kykh Inzhyneriv v Ameryci (TYIA)-- is celebrating a launch of its own: the appearance of its World Wide Web site, at http://www.uesa.org.
Visitors to the site, whether UESA members or the general public, will find information on the history of the Society; current news on the organization's activities and recent events (illustrated with photos); membership information; the locations and contacts of UESA branches throughout the U.S.; and access to the UESA members e-mail list.
Founded in 1948, the Ukrainian Engineers Society of America is a professional organization of Ukrainian engineers, scientists, architects, and other technical professionals. The Society is headquartered in New York City, with regional chapters in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Boston, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Minneapolis, and Chicago. The Society also has working relationships with engineering organizations in Ukraine.
The main goals of the UESA are to unite engineers and scientists for mutual professional enrichment and the exchange of knowledge; to examine the current status of technology, industry and the economy in Ukraine; and to provide a social/professional network for Ukrainian-American professionals in the diaspora.
Information on joining the Society can be found in the "Membership" section of the UESA Web site.
Current UESA members and branches can supply news and technical articles for the site electronically, in plain text format (i.e. ASCII files), via e-mail to marco@panix.com, or via FTP to ftp.sce-engineers.com (user name = "anonymous", password = your e-mail address). Graphics and photographs may be submitted in any commonly used format (TIFF, JPG, GIF, or Photo-CD files). ZIP compression of files is not required, but is greatly appreciated.
Hard copies of materials can also be submitted, and should be sent to the following address:
Marco J. Shmerykowsky, P.E.
