WESTERN CANADIAN TOUR
The
Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, under Artistic
Director and Conductor Oleh Mahlay, returned
to Canada's West Coast and Prairies in November.
Performing in its 87th season, the award
winning ensemble presented concerts in Vancouver
and Vernon, British Columbia; Edmonton and
Calgary, Alberta; Saskatoon and Regina,
Saskatchewan; and Winnipeg, Manitoba. For
audiences in Vancouver and Vernon, this
was the first concert of the UBC since 1985.
The cities of Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon,
Regina and Winnipeg last saw the UBC in
1995.
Over
the course of 10 days and three time zones,
the Chorus traveled approximately 2,000
miles (3,200 kms) by bus across the mountains
and prairies of Western Canada giving seven
full concerts and two Divine Liturgies.
The Chorus was very well received by all
audiences.
